Raden Ajeng Kartini is a national hero of women’s rights and female education in Indonesia in the 19th century.
She was a pioneer in fighting against the normal social customs for women in Jepara. She fought for the rights for women to have equal rights as men.
She wrote a book “From The Dark Comes Light”. It is about women’s lives at that time and she encouraged all women to pursue education as high as possible.
She was persistent in her fighting until her last breath, and become a true inspiration for Indonesia women to grow their potentials without any cultural limitations.
